Welcome to the portfolio site of Billy Schonenberg. I am a multidisciplinary problem-solver with a passion for design, documentaries, creative programming and illustrations. I studied at Eindhoven University of Technology, and graduated from the faculty of Industrial Design in 2011 (MSc, Cum Laude). This is the movie I made for my graduation.

After that, together with six others, I founded Afdeling Buitengewone Zaken, a Design collective for Service Design, Digital Media & Interaction Design. In 2013 we got nominated for the Designprijs Rotterdam for our design method Hidden Design.

At the start of 2014, I departed de Afdeling to pursue new ideas, ambitions and dreams. These things involved a healthy mix of reflection, a Wacom and Unity. Later these efforts resulted in the creation of HELM GAMES.

Since 2015 I have been working on all kinds of digital projects – ranging from virtual reality demos to games and illustration – from my studio at Vechtclub XL, a creative hub in Utrecht.

Late 2016 I relocated to back to Eindhoven, where I currently keep doing awesome projects like this one in 2017 from my shared workspace in the heart of Strijp-s.

The name of the game has been going deeper and deeper into the development side of things, with vue and node being the tools of the trade in 2018 and 2019.

I’ve spent a lot of time in 2020, and well into 2021 working for the good people of Rural Spark and with my favourite designer Paul Swagerman.

This website showcases some projects I did these last years, and some new ones coming up. Find out more at linkedin, my formal CV, or drop me a line if you need anything!
